'It is the hardest card to get from the world!'                                                                                  

Said by Aric Z Ding, a hairstylist from New Zealand. We had an interview with him after he gained Chinese green card, he has spent 5 years struggling with it. So, what makes him insist in this issue?

 

As a New Zealander citizen, this identity actually brought him convenience overseas but he still met many inconveniences when he worked and lived in China.

 

When applying for Chinese work visa, complicated documents were needed. Since his startup business required him frequently exit and enter China, the short duration of validity of the work visa, and its annual renewal made him not so convenient. It's not a long-term strategy for him to settle down in China.

 

One day, he knew the Chinese green card by chance, it could help him have fewer troubles especially when dealing with the Chinese government.

Chinese green card, is also called Chinese permanent residence, has 10 years duration of validity, same as Chinese ID card.

 

With the Chinese green card, you entitle the same welfare with Chinese citizens, like freely enter and exit China; work without work visa; open a Chinese bank account; medical insurance; public schools for your children; house subsidies; buying a house, etc.

 

However, this decision eventually took him 5 years to complete, it's not as simple as he thought, the threshold to get a Chinese green card remains still high for its qualification and complicated documents.

Qualifications

A Chinese green card could be acquired by marriage, investment or work. Today, we give a guide on the last one.

For foreigners who meet the following requirements are qualified for applying for Chinese permanent residence in Guangdong,

 

1.Foreigners consistently have worked in Guangdong for 4 years and every year at least stay in China for 6 months;

2.Annual salary of these 4 working years is not less than 400 thousand RMB (before taxation);

3.Annual tax payment is not less than 70 thousand RMB;

4.Recommend by his/her company.

 

For point 2, it requires your monthly salary not less than almost 34 thousand, which is 4 times more than Guangzhou social average monthly salary in 2017!

For point 3, personal income in China includes basic salary, commission, and subsidies. Some companies may lower the basic salary to help their staff pay less tax and increase its subsidies. It means, 70 thousand annual tax payment remains high standard.

 

Documents

3 Copies of  "the Application Form for Permanent Residence Certificate in China for Aliens ". Fill the form in Division of Exit & Entry Administration Department of Public Security, not available to download online now.

4 photos in blue background (no glasses, hats); see sample below,

 

Valid passport with visa.

Health certificate issued by the healthcare organization and authorized by the Chinese government or the Chinese Embassy overseas.

Certificate of non-criminal record abroad authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or consulate stationed in your own country. it is required to be issued in a valid period, 6 months before your application.

Resume; (Need to be precisely listed on the education and works since you are 18).

Original documents issued by your company for the past 4 years of your salary.

Documents issued by the government for the past 4 years your tax payment.

A recommendation letter from your current company, it should contain 2 following points,

Guarantee you have worked in Guangdong for 4 years.

You meet the standard of the amount of required salary and tax payment.

 

Foreign Expert Certificate or Foreigner Work Permit. The duration of validity should be the past 4 years from the time you apply for, and the information about your company and your position is needed to be the same as the application form.

 

Documents of your company (Business License, Organization Code Certificate, etc).

After preparing for all these documents, go to Division of Exit & Entry Administration Department of Public Security.It costs approximately 180 days in applying for a Chinese permanent residence.
